132 MahJongg tiles.
12 dragons (4 each of White, Green and Red), considered rank 0, dragons have no suit.
The tiles 1-9 of the 3 suits (Bamboos, Characters, Circles), 4 of each rank.
12 winds (3 of each wind North, South, East, West), considered rank 10, winds have no suit.
To build all the tiles to the foundation piles.
| • | 12 foundation piles (down left side, in groups of 4 piles North, West, East, and South) - Each pile is built up from a dragon (0), then 1 thru 9 of the same suit, then a wind (10). Winds and dragons are suitless. The 12 piles are divided into 3 sets of 4 piles, a set for each suit. A tile of each rank must be played to each pile of a set of 4 piles before any tiles of a higher rank can be played on that set of piles. That is, 4 dragons (4 of the same type) must be played before you can play any 1's to that set, then the 4 1's of that suit must be played before you can play any 2's, and so on. The 4 winds played to a set must be one of each wind. |
| • | 12 tableau piles (across top right). At the start of the game, 1 tile is dealt to the 1st pile, 2 tiles to the 2nd pile, and so on until 12 tiles to the 12th pile. Only the (bottom) available tile is face up. Within the tableau piles, a bottom tile of a pile may be played on the bottom tile of another tableau pile if it is one rank lower and of a different suit than that tile (building down of different suit). For example, a 5 of bamboos can be played on a 6 of circles. Groups of tiles in sequence down of different suit may be moved as a unit. The bottom tile of each pile is available for play on other tableau piles or on the foundation piles. Only a wind tile or a legal group of tiles headed by a wind tile may be placed in an empty space. |
| • | stock pile (bottom left, face down) - turn over tiles to the waste pile by clicking (you can also just press the Enter key). The first time through the stock, three tiles at a time are turned over. The second time through, two tiles at a time are turned over. The last time through, only one tile at a time is turned over. When the stock is empty, clicking on the empty stock will turn over the tiles in the waste pile back to the stock pile (two redeals). |

Strict Klondike
Klondike Deal Three
Long Klondike
Klondike Gold Rush is a variation of MahJongg Klondike. It allows only 2 redeals, which makes it harder than MahJongg Klondike, but easier than Strict Klondike.
